Be thankful for THIS???

Are you ever confused when you read “give thanks in all circumstances“ (1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV) in the Bible? We often wonder how we can possibly do that. Let's face it, some circumstances just stink.

Scripture does not say to be happy because of the situation that we’re in. Rather, Paul is exhorting us to find something to be thankful for in the situation, regardless of what it is.

Max Lucado's post on July 25, 2021, is an excellent example of how we can live this out.

You can sign up to see it here, but I've posted a few screenshots of the main idea below:

See how he did that? He's (obviously) not happy to have Covid or to miss an epic trip. But he's grateful for elements that are still true.

It doesn't mean he's not miserable; it means he is CHOOSING to focus on the blessings he might miss if he didn't look for them.

I hope this helps you as much as it helps me. While you ponder that, maybe take a minute to pray for Max to feel better soon and not share his misery with people in his home! :-)

In wellness,

Andrea
